News from the Bike Coop!

Hello everyone,

Just thought I’d send out a quick email introducing myself.  I’m Mary Stang, I’ll be a junior at PLU this year and I will be managing the bike co-op!  I’m really excited and it’s great to see we have so many people interested in the co-op (that being said, if you are on the list and wish to be removed, please just send me an email and I’ll take you off, no worries).  We have some really cool events coming up.  The first is on Sept. 7.  We will have a table at the interest fair, so if anyone has time and would like to volunteer, that would be awesome.  This is a great way to kick off the year and really promote the co-op.  The big event as most of you know is the Lute Loop for Bikes on Sept. 24th.  This is the most recent description I have of the day’s events:
Fri., 9/24/10, 4-6pm: Lute Loop for Bikes: The LuteFit committee is organizing this awesome event in Red Square involving registration starting at 4pm (pre-registration online is helpful for us so we can get a sense of how many are coming: the website is: The event will feature two group bike rides (a shorter one leaving around 4:15 and a longer one leaving when the shorter one gets back 4:30-4:45ish). Many different bike-related organizations from on and off-campus will be present in Red Square tabling during that time, including the LuteFit Committee, Outdoor Rec, the Bike Co-op, the PLU Bike Team, Pierce Transit (demonstrating how to load bikes onto a bus), a bike mechanic, GREAN club, KCCR with music, Andrew Reyna and Davis Burge as DJ/s/Emcees/raffle announcers, and possibly other groups such as Central Pierce Fire and Rescue (selling helmets). There will be food available and prizes to be raffled, as well as LuteLoop t-shirts with a super cool logo designed by Karly Siroky. The idea is that the organizations arrive at around 4pm and set up at tables or however they need to as the bikers do the loop, so that they will be set up in Red Square with information ready as the bike group arrives there.
